   I just left a planning meeting for an event to raise donations for a local not-for-profit group. As I’m sure you know, these events require lots of help to accomplish the many tasks needed to make the event successful. At this particular meeting, one attendee, for some unknown reason, was so excited about the event she volunteered to take on nearly every task.

   When I think of happy, I immediately think of Snoopy from the Charles Schulz cartoon Peanuts doing his happy dance. He has a big smile, his feet are dancing, his arms are open wide – he has not a care in the world. That is really happy.

   I did everything right. I sought outside advice. I asked the candidates to answer the same questions and provide the same information. I kept everyone on the same timeline. I provided the same access to information for everyone. I developed a spreadsheet so all candidates could be compared side-by-side. And, I organized my priorities establishing the criteria that should lead to an obvious decision. Yet, when everything was entered and scored, there was no clear winner. The top two choices were equally good; actually, better than good-they were great. So how do I make a choice?
